Ashley joined the WWE in 2005 after winning its second-ever Raw Diva Search, earning her a $250,000 (£195,000) one-year contract and she went on to have a pretty successful three-year career.

At Wrestlemania 23, she competed against Melina for the WWE Women’s Championship in a losing effort.

And names including Mick Foley and The Miz, expressed their sadness at the loss of life.

WWE says it’s “saddened to learn of the tragic death of former Superstar Ashley Massaro” and offers its condolences to her family.
